Since October 2008, a long-term research collaboration in between Institute of History and Archeology, MAS and Korean National Institute of Cultural Heritage has been successfully continued on the archeological investigations in Mongol Altai area. The purpose of this collaborative research is to identify the origin of Mongolian nomadic people in Altai area and to prepare a complete archeological information database. On 27 April 2019, the researchers from both sides have organized a Mongolia-Korean scientific conference to evaluate and discuss their research results.
Conference presented some notable achievements that have completed for past ten years of research works. For example, in 2009-2013, Korean research team has performed a genetic analysis of local people who live in western, eastern, central and northern sites of Mongolia and prepared their completed research results for sequential publications those soon be available for the readers.
In addition, the archeological team has discovered and identified a hundreds of valuable ancient materials such as about 5000 ancient heritages from 18 sums of Gobi-Altai province. In 2015 and 2016-2018, the archeological research team studied the ancient heritages in Mongol Altai mountain area and Bayan-Olgii province. Currently, the results of collaborative research works have been published in seven sequential books named “Researches on Mongolian cultural heritages”.
