Academician N. Baasanjav receives the Highest Award of the World Intellectual Property Organization

Hero of Labor of Mongolia, People’s Doctor Baasanjav Nachin has been awarded the Medal for Inventions of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) for his valuable contribution to the well-being of the people and development of the health sector in Mongolia through his innovation. State Secretary of the Ministry of Health Erdembileg.Ts, handed over the award at the Ministry of Health on March 10.


President of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences, Academician Regdel.D, Foreign Relations Officer of the Intellectual Property Office of Mongolia Gerelmaa.Z and other officials attended the award ceremony.

Baasanjav.N has made more than 10 discoveries in science. He served more than 50 years in medical science for mastering surgical methods of cardiovascular, pulmonary, esophageal surgeries as well as gastrointestinal and biliary tract surgeries. Therefore, his work is recognized by the World Intellectual Property Organization and awarded the “gold’ medal. 

Academician Baasanjav Nachin said at the award ceremony: “Surgery is not the work of a single person. It is an honor of the team work”. I would like to thank and grateful to my colleagues support, friends and governing bodies, especially the MAS, 3rd state central Hospital of Mongolia and the Institute of Medical Sciences.


Regdel.D, President of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences, said: Academician Baasanjav has been an advisor to 6 of Sc.D candidates, 36 Ph.D candidates. We could imagine that these 42 people can be considered as a research institute in Mongolia today. Now the world recognizes he is an outstanding person. I am very glad that an academician, a full member of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences has received the world recognition today.”

The highest award from the World Intellectual Property Organization - the Gold Medal - was awarded to 2,000 people in 130 countries.
