Professor Noriyuki Yasufuku, Geotechnical Engineering group from Kyushu University, Japan was today awarded a Doctor Honoris Causa by Mongolian Academy of Sciences. The prestigious award was given to Professor Yasufuku “in recognition of his achievements in development of ecosystem research and combating desertification in Mongolia”.
Since 2009, for ten years, the research team led by Prof. Yasufuku from Kyushu University has been successfully conducting Mongolia-Japan joint research project with the scientist from Institute of General and Experimental Biology.
The joint research was focused on cultivating the medicinal and rare plants in Mongolian dry land areas in order to stop and prevent the desertification in those areas. The scientist noted that the cultivation of medicinal plants can be beneficial for an economic usage too in addition to combating the desertification.
