The General Assembly of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences /MAS/ has held yesterday. A Year-end report of 2020 discussed at the first part of the meeting and then new academicians’ election held at the end of the meeting. A researcher with a long history of cooperation with the Mongolian Academy of Sciences, who has made a significant contribution to the development of science and technology as well as human resources will be nominated by the Academic Council of the collaborating Institute to the General Assembly of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences. The General Assembly receives applications once in two years.
There are 58 academicians and 56 of them has participated in the General Assembly to have discussion for the year-end report and to vote for new members of the General Assembly.
According to the regulations of electing members of the MAS, a candidate
is elected to the General
Academy if 3/4 or more of the participants voted
for a candidate by secret ballots.
This year 5 scientists are elected to become an academician and full members of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences. Mentioning the ballot percentages: Ts. Batbayar by 79.2%, J. Davaasambuu by 81.4%, Ts. Nanzad by 78.4%, J. Norovsuren by 88.6% and N. Togtohbayar by 77.3%, respectively elected.

members get approved their academician titles by the President of Mongolia.
At the end of the General Assembly, D. Regdel, President of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences, said: “The General Assembly of the Academy has made a decision on the issues discussed within the framework of the law. First of all, on behalf of all academicians and on behalf of myself, I would like to congratulate the five newly elected members of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences and wish them vigorous work for Mongolian science.”
