The
Presidium of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences met to discuss and approve the
following three concerns.
The first, approving a standard definition of the director
status for the research institutes of the
Mongolian Academy of Sciences.
The second, revising the procedure for election, appointment
and dismissal of the directors
of the
Institutes of the MAS and approved.
The third, organizational structure, staff members and list of positions of the Presidium office
of the MAS was discussed.
The
Presidium of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences has been operating with
staff members of 32 people since 1996.
There has been four
departments operation for the Presidium office since restructuring in
2016. This time the Presidiums proposed
to establish the fifth department to work for Governance and Planning, without
increasing staff members.
There are two provisions related to the staffing of
the Presidium office in the Law on
the Legal Status of the Mongolian Academy of sciences. The one that, the
numbers of Presidiums of the MAS, Vice-President, Secretary General shall be determined by the MAS General Assembly. The
second that, the Presidiums of the MAS will have a Presidium office, organizational structure,
staff members and list of positions of the Presidium office shall
be determined by the Government. However, there is no history that this
restructuring concern, even being
discussed in the Cabinet
meeting. This year, the structure and
staffing of the Presidium office of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences will be
submitted to the Cabinet meeting for approval.
D.Regdel, the President of the
Mongolian Academy of Sciences, said, “According to the Law on the Status of the
Mongolian Academy of Sciences, we will have our new structure and staff
approved by the Government. We are preparing to submit and discussed at the
Cabinet meeting on 20 January, 2021. Today's Presidiums meeting
approved the number of staff as it is 32. This structure and staffing will be
discussed in the Cabinet meeting. Recently, the government's vision to science and
technology development has changed significantly. So we have to work harder.
Our mission towards to Government must also be changed.
Therefore, concerning this
mission, we are proposing to make the organizational structure change in order
to make it diverse and richer in terms of activities and disciplines.
