Mongolia and Hungary will collaborate on archaeogenetics

Ambassador of Hungary in Mongolia Borbála Obrusánszki visited the Mongolian Academy of Sciences and exchanged views on scientific cooperation between the two countries.

By the way, Ambassador Borbala Obrusanszki is a scientist with a doctorate in Mongol studies.

During the meeting, President of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences D. Regdel said: “We are lucky to have an ambassador who is friendly to Mongolian scientists. Hope your knowledge of Mongolia will lead to significant progress in bilateral cooperation. Hungary ranks first in the world for Mongol studies. This is probably due to the fact that we have the same history. In the coming years, Mongolia plans to focus on biotechnological research. We offer to cooperate with your country in this direction”.

Ambassador Borbala said “I am delighted to announce that the Hungarian Research Institute has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Institute of Archeology of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences to begin a large-scale archaeological survey “Belhiin uv” in June. In this context, we are interested in conducting cutting-edge research in archaeogenetics and cooperation in the field of water resources management.

The Hungarian Institute for Hungarian Studies has also offered cooperation in the fields of history, ethnography, archeology and linguistics. We look forward to a detailed discussion of this issue during the visit of the Hungarian side to Mongolia in June”.

The ambassador said that the Hungarian Academy of Sciences traditionally celebrates Scientist's Day in November every year and intends to celebrate this day in Mongolia this year as well.
