A Memorandum of
Understanding was signed between the Mongolian Academy of Sciences and the
Hungarian Research Institute.
The memorandum was signed by
the President of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences D. Regdel and the director
of the Hungarian Research Institute Lugosi Gabor on July 1, 2021.
The purpose of the
cooperation is to get to know and study the history and culture of Hungary and
Mongolia. Within the framework of cooperation, the parties will launch joint
research programs in the field of archeology, archeogenetics, history,
linguistic history, ethnography, folk music and other fields. Also help each
other in professional programs.
The signing ceremony was
attended by the Ambassador of Hungary to Mongolia Borbala Obrusanszky, Director of the Archaeological Center
of the Hungarian Research Institute Makoldi Miklos, Vice President of the
Mongolian Academy of Sciences G. Chuluunbaatar and Director of the Institute of
Archeology G. Eregzen.
D. Regdel, President of the
Mongolian Academy of Sciences, said: “I am glad that thanks to the experience
in Mongolian studies and the hard work of the newly appointed ambassador, a lot
of work has already begun. This year marks the 100th anniversary of our
scientific organization and the 60th anniversary of the Mongolian Academy of
Sciences. In 1961, the first Hungarian explorer conducted excavations in
Mongolia. I would like to thank all of you for the resumption of excavations in
sixty years and for the intensification of our cooperation.”
Lugosi Gabor, Director of the Hungarian Research Institute, said: I am grateful that 2 big events took place quickly and efficiently during our visit. This is the opening of the "Archaeological research of the tombs of the Huns aristocrats of the Belkh valley" and the signing of a memorandum of understanding. Our institute plans to publish a joint research journal of Hungarian and Mongolian researchers. A joint research journal will be created covering all areas of research. By the way, the Ethnographic Journal published by our institute is the largest international journal in this field, so we believe that we have extensive experience in publishing journals.
Ambassador Borbala Obrusanszky previously
visited the Mongolian Academy of Sciences to discuss this issue. This time she
expressed confidence that during the joint event of the academies of sciences
of the two countries, which is planned to be held in November, many works
outlined in the memorandum will be fruitful, and there will be many results
that can be discussed.
