The 73rd meeting of the The Committee of Plenipotentiary Representatives of the International Centre for Scientific and Technical Information was held yesterday /November 9, 2021/.


The International Center for Scientific and Technical Information (ICSTI) is a specialized intergovernmental organization created to solve the problems of ensuring the international exchange of scientific and technical information.

The ICSTI supreme governing body is the Committee of Plenipotentiary Representatives (CPR), formed by Plenipotentiary Representatives of specialized state government bodies or national academies appointed by the government of the member states.

At yesterday's meeting of the committee, the 2021 report was discussed and the election of the Chairman of the CPR was held.

In this election, Regdel D., President of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences, Plenipotentiary Representative of Mongolia was elected as the Chairman of the CPR.

Prof. Dr. Alexandr Stratan, Director of the National Institute for Economic Research of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science of the Republic of Moldova previously served as chairman of the CPR.

The center was first established in 1969 by eight countries, one of which is the People's Republic of Mongolia. Having celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2019, the ICSTI is made up of 22 member states representing almost all geographical regions of the world from Central America to South-East Asia and from Europe to Africa. In addition, long-term and medium-term projects of the Centre are implemented with the involvement of associated organizations from about 20 states outside of official membership.

The goal of the ICSTI is to support the sustainable development of science and technology in its member countries and partners. In doing so, it aims to integrate the efforts and coordination of member organizations and their partners in science, technology and business to ensure inclusive economic growth and sustainable development.

The International Centre for Scientific and Technical Information performs its tasks jointly with concerned information bodies of national systems and individual scientists and specialist of member states on the basis of treaties and cooperation agreements.

Currently, the efforts of the ICSTI are focused on the development of international digital information infrastructure (ecosystem) of the maintenance of scientific, scientific and technical and innovative activities.
