“PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATORS AND PROJECT PROPOSAL DEVELOPMENT” TRAINING
WORKSHOP was held on 8-10 December 2020 by digital
platform from the Mongolian Academy of Sciences.
One of the main goals of the Mongolian
Academy of Sciences is improving the scientific and technical capabilities of our
researchers, young and early career scientists. To enhance the participation of
local scientists in regional and international collaborative research, we work
to foster collaborative services as an international platform for engagement of
international collaborations and capacity building of future principal
investigators.
The aim of this training was to obtain
information from the speakers of collaborative research funding organizations
including their requirements, and rules on proposal development and to create
opportunities a building networks and learn from invited leading key persons on
their knowledge sharing, experiences exchanges, and academic collaborations.
The speakers were expressed the appreciation of being invited and promote
exchanges of varies global research projects and were emphasizing importance of
a building networks in Asia through strengthening linkages on funded projects
and joint meetings.
56 young researchers were participated in the training from 14 research institutes in the Mongolian Academy of Sciences.
The collaborative organizations were the Asian Pacific Network for
Global Change Research (APN), the Alliance of International Science
Organizations (ANSO), the Regional Centre for Future Earth in Asia, the
Mongolian National Commission for UNESCO, the Institute of Geoecology and Geography,
the Institute of Chemistry and Chemical technology, Center for environmental
research and study NGO and the TWAS young affiliate.
Invited speakers were from the supporting organizations, Dr. Linda
Anne Stevenson, Head of Knowledge Management and Scientific Affairs, APN, Dr.
Ria Lambino - Science Officer from the Regional Center for Future Earth in
Asia, Prof. Michel Walter Chair of Environmental Sciences in Eastern Central
Asia from UNESCO, Dr. Ailikun Assistant Executive Director, ANSO Secretariat,
Dr.Ts. Munkhtsetseg TWAS young affiliate, Ms Namuum and Ms Chimeddulam from
UNESCO Mongolia office, Mr Gantulga from Consortium of Mongolian Libraries, Dr.
Y.Ariunzul from Natural research and Information NGO and Dr. D.Battogtokh
Director general of Institute of Geography and Geoecology, MAS.
The participants appreciated the detailed information about all organizations and the approaches reminded to write joint research proposal, lessons learned from experienced researchers, and knowledge needed to develop research project proposals in line with their professional backgrounds.
The organizers hoped the training will make contribution to the
development of regional research and cooperation in the future. As well as the
outcome of this training will enhance institutional collaborations in all
science disciplines and engagement with the general public; furthermore, the
involvement of MAS researchers in international collaborative work within the
region will create significant value for our institutions.
