Team led by Dr. Ts. Turbat, Institute of Physics and Technology and researchers from the Institute of History and Archeology and National Museum has investigated the pigment composition of the fragmented pieces of lacquer cup excavated in Tamir Valley, Arkhangai province. Using spectroscopic analysis, they have identified that the lacquer cup which belongs to Xioangu period had consisted of three-layer structure, a lacquer pigment layer, a fiber layer and a wood foundation layer.
The researchers noted that their studies have provided the valuable information to further investigate and compare the pigment materials used in ancient time in Mongolia.
