The project entitled "The Science-Policy adaptive capacity for local herding and government groups to reduce climate vulnerability" is being implemented at the Mongolian Academy of Sciences under funding from the Asia-Pacific Network for Global Climate Change Research (APN). The 3rd training course was successfully organized in cooperation with the
Governor’s office on April 11-13, 2024 in Gobi-Altai Province for 3 days,
including 50 government employees, representatives of the private sector and
citizens from 5 soums, Biger, Bayan-Uul, Taishir, Togrog, and Haliun.
The training was effectively organized in the form of
lectures, practical work and team work in accordance with the planned theme and
content of "Developing local strategic plan and adaptation options to
climate change" at soum level taking into consideration national, and
regional policies review analysis, pasture vulnerability assessment and policy
document formulation guidelines.
According to the training manual and instructions, each soum
prepared a draft of the "Strategic development plan" and on the 3rd
day of the training, presented it to the heads of 5 departments of the Governor's
office of Gobi-Altai province and the training organizers. Heads of departments
and researchers of the project team will further provide guidance and
coordination until the policy document approval.
In addition, the provincial governor appraised the
results and importance of the project and agreed to work closely with the MAS
to develop climate change research on a wider level, to develop adaptation and
resilience options at local level, to ensure the implementation of local
strategic plans, and to cooperate with the MAS to develop project proposals for
the next round.
